I am a candidate for the Pennsylvania State Legislature because I believe the hard-working people of the 44th District deserve a representative who is committed to bringing meaningful change to Harrisburg and making a true difference in the lives of every person in our community.
As a daughter of a single Mom, I grew up learning the values of family, education and hard work. Throughout my childhood, I witnessed how deeply committed my Mother was to improving the lives of her friends and neighbors. As a young child, I can remember helping her deliver meals to the elderly and disabled members of our community. She made volunteering at the community center or soup kitchen a customary chore in our household. As a result of her efforts and dedication, my Mother was appointed as the Director of the Meals on Wheels Program of Allegheny County.
Watching my mother passionately embrace the elderly and the less fortunate instilled in me the valuable lesson that I have a continuing obligation to give back to my community.
Sadly, my Mother passed away when I was nine years old, and I was soon to experience years of hardship and struggle. Throughout the years, I learned firsthand what it meant to work two jobs, go without health insurance and choose between feeding my family and paying the utility bills.
Yet, I never gave up hope, and I never lost my resolve!
From an early age, I understood the importance of education and used it as my roadmap to a brighter future.
Today, I am proud to say that I am a commercial real estate attorney with the law firm of Reed Smith and a graduate of Point Park University and the Duquesne University School of Law.
I serve as a youth mentor with the Duquesne University “CLAAY Program,” provide pro bono legal services to the elderly and indigent, serve as a member of the Moon Township Historic Architectural Review Board and am an active parent in the Moon Crescent Athletic Association.
As your representative in Harrisburg, I will address the most pressing needs and deepest concerns of the residents and business owners of the 44th District.
I believe it is time that we have a State Representative that understands that every resident of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania deserves to be covered by health insurance and that forcing people to gamble with their health is simply wrong.
We need a State Representative that understands and appreciates the rapid and dynamic changes that affect our local economy and that will work to bring good-paying, sustainable jobs to our region.
Finally, I believe that we need a State Representative that is fully committed to fighting for fair and equitable property tax reform that will insure that our seniors can stay in the homes that they have spent a lifetime building.
I believe that together we can make a difference in Harrisburg, and I am asking for your support and your vote on November 4th.
Thank you and I look forward to serving as your State Representative.
Sincerely,
